“We are in deep.”
“Our love now is for more traditional music”
– Mike Sanyshyn, Jackson Hollow
Making their festival debut, Vancouver’s Jackson Hollow is a three-time BC Country Music Association award-winning band, also chosen for an IBMA International Showcase and signed with Virginia-based bluegrass label, Mountain Fever Records.
Lead singer Tianna Lefebvre is a four-time BC Country Music Association Award winner, including Female Vocalist of the Year. Fiddler and mandolin player Mike Sanyshyn has won both the Canadian Country Music Association and BC Country Music Association Fiddle Player of the Year Awards and is a four-time Provincial Fiddle Champion. He also placed in the top three at the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Championships. Rounding out the band are Juno nominees Charlie Frie (bass) and Eric Reed (guitar).
Joining Jackson Hollow is two-time U.S. national banjo champion Jeff Scroggins. A modern legend in bluegrass circles, Jeff is familiar to our festival from his previous appearances with Jeff Scroggins and Colorado. He has performed and recorded with some of the top names in bluegrass and country music including Steve Kaufman, Peter Rowan, Sam Bush, Stuart Duncan, Mark Schatz, David Grier, Jerry Douglas, Kenny Smith and The Dixie Chicks.
“Jackson Hollow continues to impress my ears. This band is exemplary in every category. Vocals, musicianship, arrangements, material and performance. The sound is pure bluegrass but with a freshness and vibrancy that seems to be missing in today’s more traditional groups. The vocal blend is as perfect as I have heard. Led by a dynamic female singer, this band is on their own unique trajectory, and that trajectory is simply out of this world!”
