Devilish Mary

Devilish Mary is composed of long-standing members of Vancouver’s Pacific Bluegrass and Old Time Music Society (PBOMS) and contributors to Vancouver Island’s thriving music scene.

Athena McKown (fiddle) leads the popular PBOMS old time jam at Vancouver’s Anza club and has made extensive contributions to Old Time music in Vancouver; she’s a walking encyclopedia of obscure tunes.

Cello Lukey (banjo), formerly of The Woolly Bears, organizes the popular Thursday night square dances at Vancouver’s Wise Hall and has made many appearances at Stringband Tunesday at Vancouver club The Heatley.

Claire Fadul (guitar), from Port Alberni on Vancouver Island, plays banjo with The Black Rabbit Rounders and fiddle with Western Family Stringband and is debuting her old time guitar playing this year at Cowichan.

Tereza Tomek (bass), hailing from Cumberland, B.C., is the bassist of Cumbalandia, Coal Dust Gang, Western Family Stringband and basically any band that needs a bass and is a talented multi instrumentalist and songwriter.

Devilish Mary is our featured band for the festival’s School Square Dance Program with caller Paul Silveria. They will also be leading an old-time jam on site.
