Allen Dobb Trio
Moranz and Fremlin
Dobb, Moranz and Fremlin is a double blend of talent comprised of The Allen Dobb Trio and the duo of Moranz and Fremlin. Together they blend Canadian-style Americana with bluegrass for a unique sound that you will find in two separate offerings at this year’s festival.
The Allen Dobb Trio is led by Victoria based singer-songwriter Allen Dobb, who has been called “one of the finest and most literate tunesmiths in this country” (Edmonton Journal). His fourth solo release in 2024 of Alone Together was praised as “searching and touching, strong and vibrant” by Americana Highways and “a soundtrack to a full life” (Adventures in Americana). Steeped in rural roots growing up on a farm in northwestern Alberta near the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, Dobb’s material is inspired by stories, landscapes, and characters he has encountered working as a range management specialist in the B.C. Interior.
Moranz and Fremlin is a Canadian bluegrass duo comprised of multi-instrumentalist Ryland Moranz and mandolin aficionado Dan Fremlin.
Lethbridge, Alberta based Ryland Moranz is an internationally touring singer-songwriter and member of Leeroy Stagger’s potent alt-country outfit, the Rebeltone Sound. When he’s not touring, Ryland is a visual artist, session musician, audio engineer, digital audio researcher and experienced tour manager.
Hailing from B.C.’s central Cariboo region, Dan Fremlin is an accomplished bluegrass mandolin player and songwriter who performs as an integral member of the Blue Wranglers as well as Barney Bentall’s Caribou Express.
