The Jason Carter Band
Three-time Grammy winner Jason Carter is regretfully unable to attend this year’s festival. Jason’s management team sent regrets on behalf of the long-time Del McCoury fiddle player who recently embarked on a solo career.
“We’re sorry to share that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Jason Carter will no longer be appearing at the Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival on June 14th. He sends his sincere regrets and appreciation to the fans and festival team. Thank you for your understanding.”
Replacing Jason is Wyatt Ellis, the 16-year-old mandolin sensation who’s setting the bluegrass world on fire. He makes his Canadian and international debut at the 2025 Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival with his all-star band of hot young players.
The most-talked about young artist in bluegrass, Wyatt made his official Opry debut at 14 and has collaborated with bluegrass pioneers Peter Rowan, Marty Stuart, and Bobby Osborne. He’s appeared alongside every big name in bluegrass including Billy Strings, Sam Bush, Sierra Hull, Ronnie McCoury and many more. A traditionalist steeped in the style, Wyatt is poised to become the next big thing in bluegrass.
We hope to book Jason Carter at some future date and urge our patrons to check out his recently released duo album Carter & Cleveland with last year’s festival sensation Michael Cleveland. The album is a stunning tour de force by two of the most decorated generational players of bluegrass.
