“A clear, pure and powerful voice that is unique to her . . . she can truly sing from her heart.”

Jenny Lester has been one of Canada’s pioneering women on the Western Canada bluegrass scene since the ripe old age of eight, when she began on fiddle with her family’s Driftwood Canyon Family Band out of Smithers, B.C.

After nearly a decade of touring West Coast festivals with her family band, Jenny won a musical scholarship to South Plains College in Texas, graduating with honours. In the 1990s she played with Dark Horse based in Colorado, the Australian trio performing at Leo Foo Village in Taiwan, John Reischman and Bluegrass Signal in Vancouver, BC, and the Jenny Lester Trio.

In the late ’90s Jenny released her internationally acclaimed debut album Friends Like You, after which she recorded and toured with the Yukon-based band, Hungry Hill.

She brings her new band, Generation Gap, to the festival with Craig Korth (bass,) Larry White (banjo), Tai McGillivray (mandolin).
