Shari Ulrich/Unfaithful Servants

“Her ideas bleed from a fearlessly intertwined approach to life and songwriting.”

Multiple Juno Award-winning Canadian folk icon Shari Ulrich joins Victoria newgrass unit The Unfaithful Servants on Sunday afternoon for a redux of their successful “Fallen Angels tour” at the close of 2025.

A self-described “child of the 60’s” from the San Francisco Bay Area, Ulrich was weaned on The Beatles, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and other giants of the folk era. Like many others, she fled the tumultuous political upheavals of the U.S. at age 19 at their height of the Sixties protest era, backpacking and bicycling around Canada and the U.S. before finding her place in British Columbia.

Her career includes 26 albums spanning several decades with Rick Scott and Joe Mock of The Pied Pumkin, Bill Henderson and Roy Forbes in UHF, Barney Bentall and Tom Taylor in BTU (Bentall, Taylor and Ulrich), as well as Valdy and The Hometown Band, The High Bar Gang and other projects.

A television host, actress, film composer, and educator, Ulrich has written music for Sesame Street  and composed theme music for several networks. Also an audio engineer, music editor in film and television, and videographer, Ulrich is a multi-instrumentalist on violin, mandolin, guitar, piano and dulcimer.
