Boomer Boyd & Friends

Firmly rooted in the traditional sounds of classic bluegrass, Mike “Boomer” Boyd & Friends is comprised of long-time members of the Vancouver Island bluegrass scene.

The band is led by Mike “Boomer” Boyd (guitar, lead vocal), who previously headed the island favourite band The Maple Mountain Boys. Originally from Oshawa, Ontario, Boomer is known for his strong vocals and powerful rhythm guitar, and recently released an album simply titled Bluegrass.  Other band members are:

Jeff Ellis (banjo, vocals). A multi instrumentalist and long-time musical companion of Boomer’s, Jeff previously toured as bass player with David Parmley & Continental Divide and Marty Raybon & Full Circle before moving to Vancouver Island and joining the Maple Mountain Boys.
 
Luann Burton (bass, vocals). Residing in Sydney BC, Luann is a great bass player and singer. Previously with Corner Grass.
 
Max Pagani (mandolin, vocals). Hailing from Powell River, Max is also a longtime member of the Powell River Bluegrass band Scout Mountain..
 

Monica Behan (Fiddle, vocals). Max’s better half, Monica is also a member of Scout Mountain, Monica is known as a Celtic player but once bitten by the bluegrass bug she was hooked.
