Hoss Mountain Stringband
Hoss Mountain Stringband is a local success story that has been building fans since forming a few years ago.
Hailing from Victoria B.C. they play an eclectic mix of old and new bluegrass, woven together with deep connections to old-time and swing, Canadian reels, jigs, and hornpipes.Scottish, Irish, and French-Canadian step-dancing.
Hoss Mountain came together through their connections with the Victoria bluegrass scene, including the Victoria Bluegrass Association’s Tuesday night jam sessions. The band is comprised of established players on the local scene — Paul Moquin, guitar; Mike Kraft, banjo; Kris Boyd, mandolin; Mark Johnson, bass; and Ben Barrett-Forrest, violin.
Hoss will get the party started at Friday on the Chapel Stage for a triple fiddle set with guests Miriam Sonstenes and Taiki Moquin.
